The Ford Mustang GT convertible Wimbledon White is equipped with a 450hp V8 engine, with a six-speed manual transmission. “Mustang is the heart and soul of this company and one of the most loved cars in the world. When I see a Mustang speeding through the streets of Detroit, London or Beijing, I feel the same excitement as when I bought my first car: a 1966 Mustang that accompanied me everywhere throughout my adolescence. Mustang is a universal symbol of good humour"said Jim Farley, President of Global Markets Ford Motor Company.
The celebration was also attended by Ford's Eadquarter in Dearborn, with the presence of three P-51 Mustang fighter planes dating back to World War II as well as a parade of examples of the hero car, made during its 54 years from Dearborn to Flat Rock. The Ford Mustang was also built in San Jose, California, in Metuchen, New Jersey, and initially in Dearborn, Michigan.
According to figures compiled by IHS Markit for Ford, the Mustang has been the best-selling sports car in the US for 50 years in the coup+ sports car segment in the period from 1966 to 2018. In Europe, on the other hand, it was launched in 2015, selling over 38,000 Mustangs, a model that even managed to overtake the Porsche 911 in 13 European markets (including the UK and Spain) in 2017. The top five European markets for Mustang sales in 2017 were Germany, the UK, France, Belgium and Sweden.
