Nym e Osaka Lounge: the 2018 collections designed by CMP for Pedrali.
The design of a chair is an operation that involves several players: the designer, the company, and all the people who, thanks to their craft and industrial skills, transform the project into a concrete work. The object thus becomes the main protagonist within a 'sharing space'.
The project realised by Cazzaniga Mandelli Pagliarulo for Pedrali starts from one premise: the chair is a catalyst for sociality. New products were presented at the 57th edition of the Salone del Mobile: Nym Soft, Nym Stool and Osaka Lounge.
Nym Soft e Nym Stool take the English Windsor seat in a contemporary key, in its new upholstered version and in its stool evolution.
Simplicity, sophistication and versatility with a delicate enhancement of the idea of comfort and cosiness: these are the main features of Nym Soft. The strong point, however, lies in the differential-density polyurethane foam padding, which is significantly higher in the seat area and guarantees adaptability and support, a combination that is the basis of comfort. Thanks to its almost natural shape, it can be adapted to different contexts of use. "Nym Soft engages both from a tactile and physical point of view but also from an emotional point of view because it is evocative of organic shapes and lines that are inherent in our memory. Like the hollow of the palm of a hand, a hug, things about tenderness', say the designers.
Increased comfort thanks to the stool Nymwhich has wood as its absolute protagonist. The arched backrest made of curved wood with an elliptical section fits seamlessly into the shaped solid wood seat and becomes an armrest. The result is an ergonomic seat, with the legs perfectly integrated into the seat.
The stool Nymas well as the wooden elements of Nym Soft, is certified FSC and organic water-based paint. The guarantee that the raw material is sourced from certified forests and the use of water-based paints composed mostly of plant-derived resins underline the company's attention and commitment to environmental sustainability.
Even the session Osaka Metal was presented in its new lounge version revisited by Cazzaniga Mandelli Pagliarulo for Pedrali. Its generous dimensions accentuate its versatile soul and its character of relaxed composure. Each component expresses its function, all parts are designed to be produced simply, with minimal material waste, and to fit together solidly.
A session "visually light, reduced to the essential. Osaka lounge has nothing more than is necessary, so both the design and the materials are aimed at giving maximum performance, comfort and above all to make it usable for lounge spaces', is the description of the designers.
Thanks to its strong yet neutral graphic impact, it can be placed in different spaces and architectural contexts such as hotel lobbies, bars or lounge areas.
