Car Design Award 2018: Honda, Jaguar and Volvo triumph

The 'Oscars' of world motoring have been awarded, the Car Design Award 2018 decreed the winners of the three categories: Concept Cars, Production Cars e Brand Design Language. Once again the star of this event of international scope was the Turin Salonwithin the Valentino Park. The prizes were awarded by a jury consisting of representatives from the best newspapers automotive worldwide. The awards, as reported by the Sports Gazettewere awarded to the design teams that produced the 'best formal brand language'.

Concept Cars Award.

Regarding the allocation of the category Concept Cars, taking the podium is the team Honda for the Urban EV. The winning car is followed by an ex aequo with Essentia of the group Genesis e Mazda for the Vision Coupé. On the last step, however, came BMW with its M8 Gran Coupe. According to the jury, it was Honda's ability to give personality to an electric car that sealed its victory. A need that would apparently make it specifically desirable.

Jaguar triumphs in the Production category.

Another great success is the Production Carswhich saw triumph in style at the Car Design Award the lines of Jaguar for its E-Pace. The first Suv compact of the 'jaguar' has thus overtaken even Aston Martinwith its Vantage e Volvo with the Polestar. The sporty and dynamic look reminiscent of the elegant lines of a coupé enabled the SUV to win the award by beating out the competition. Behind the jurors' decision "the brand's innovative car design, combining performance, style and practicality in a simple and effective manner“.

In the section Brand Design Language, Volvo won hands down, almost without rival, easily edging out the teams from Jaguar and Mazda. Volvo's design success, according to the jury, is "fresher and more effective". Guest of honour at the event was Chris Bangle, a designer famous for his ability to fuse tradition and countercultural visions. All the trophies awarded were made by one of the longest-standing partners of the Car Design AwardThis is Brembowhich has been following the event since 1984.
