La culture does not go on holiday. For travellers who have chosen to visit Italian cities in the summertime, apart from the purely touristy and better-known attractions scattered throughout Italy, there are also places, sometimes less well-known, where you can get lost among the hundreds of works created by artists emerging and famous from all over the world. Le design exhibitions e architecture are an alternative or an essential component to enrich one's out-of-town experience. As witnessed by design.repubblicahere are five design exhibitions not to be missed.

Five design exhibitions for the summer.

MILAN - The Italian design told through the exhibition of no less than 180 pieces belonging to the 20th century. It is called "Stories. Italian design"one of the most beautiful design exhibitions which can be admired at the Triennale Design Museum and focuses on thematic insights that develop creativity through five other disciplines: geography, communication, politics, technology and economics.

VENICE - It will be open until 25 November the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of Biennial of Venice. The focus chosen for this edition is the "Freespace', i.e. the quality of space as free and open. An exhibition that can be admired in the areas set up inside the Giardini and the Arsenale, as well as in other areas scattered around the city of Venice.

mostre di design italian design institute 1FAENZA - The International Ceramics Competition of contemporary art is simultaneously 80 years old and 60 editions. From the union of this double anniversary comes "Ceramics Now"which will open on 30 June and close on 7 October. Installations and artistic performances can be admired thanks to the selection of 17 curators who have chosen 56 artists for the occasion.

VENICE - "A furnace in Marseilles. Cirva"is the exhibition open until 29 July at the Querini Foundation. This is thanks to 17 artists and designers from all over the world who have worked and confronted each other in France, at the International Centre for Glass and Visual Arts Research. In fact, this exhibition brings together precisely contemporary art e glass. The combination of these two realities, thanks above all to the creativity of the designers, is able to generate surprising results.

PADUA - Until 23 September, in the Palace of the Region of the Venetian capital is open to the public the exhibition 'Multidisciplinary time"an exhibition dedicated to the Italian sculptor and designer Gaetano Pesce. There are more than 200 works to admire, tracing the career of the Italian architect, one of the most famous in the history of the Italian flag. For the occasion, some previously unpublished pieces will also be on display, such as the architectural-urban project "Padua honours Galileo“.
