Sleep well through design: from mattress to room furnishings

Many, every day, fight so that they can always sleep well. There is nothing, in fact, that can ruin a whole day as much as a sleep never serene and profound. This is why doctors and experts in the field have, over the years, managed to give some tips to prevent people all over the world from waking up in the morning 'on the wrong foot'. Among the various tips, many are more than well known by now. During the World Sleep Day of 16 March, those topics that are already well known, such as the 'prohibition' of physical activity in the hours before sleep (it is advisable to practise sport in the early morning), were discussed. Or again, one should avoid eating very heavy at dinner, so as not to strain the digestion during the night; do not scroll through social pages on your smartphone when you are already at bed and take a hot shower before falling asleep.

But, apparently, this is not enough. Help in this regard could come directly from the experts at designaccording to which a room well furnished with objects functional is conducive to a better quality of sleep. All this outline, however, cannot be separated from the choice of the fundamental element for sleep well: the mattress. It must of course be comfortable, neither too soft nor too hard, but with those qualities that can accommodate the body's movement in total relaxation.

As reported by the Corriere della Sera Living, the idea of revolutionising the mattress market comes directly from the British company Eve Sleepwhich has staked its idea on the following motto: 'A great day starts the night before'. Not only the mattress itself, therefore, but also bed sheets (prefer natural and non-allergenic fibres, and never synthetic materials), blankets e duvet. Lying down in a well-made and tidy bed would facilitate relaxation of body and mind. But it does not stop there. The bedroom temperature should be between 18 and 22 degrees; the light? Completely absent. In fact, it is scientifically proven that a single open glimmer from which a beam of light comes can awaken our neurons even if we have our eyes closed.

And don't forget the plants. In addition to being a component of design not to be underestimated, they help make the air cleaner and more breathable. But it is also important to take care of it, because it helps to relax one's body, which will then be predisposed to a sleep better. Finally, the alarm clock. Many people set a time on their mobile phones but are often startled awake by ringtones. Some alarm clocks, on the other hand, have a design so special, ranging from sound-absorbing fabric upholstery to sophisticated sound reproduction technology. In short, to be able to sleep wella few simple precautions can make a greater contribution to the quality of sleep.
