TEACHERS

A graduate in Forestry from the University of Florence and in Landscape Architecture from the Sapienza University of Rome, Stefano Mengoli's fields of interest are urban greenery, green design and environmental restoration. Specialised in urban green management at the Municipal Institute of Parks and Gardens in Barcelona, he has developed the subject by studying global service systems for urban green, analysis methods to implement the quality of green spaces and new experimental green formulas for the city. He has served as a commissioner for the awarding of green contracts for metropolitan cities. His research and design activities have led him to develop various themes, from garden streets (Calenzano. 2009) to the study of green eco-neighbourhoods (Orbetello, 2011), up to and including naturalistic tourist villages with an ecological footprint (Follonica, 2012). His experience as a botanical curator of historical gardens has led him to study the compositIve formula of botanical bioparks as amusement parks (Varese, 2017; Lonato del Garda, 2017) and vertical gardens conceived as natural power (among the latest, Mondo Juve Turin and Aventino Rome, 2018), as well as the recovery of historical trees (Gallerie vegetali Castelgandolfo, 2009; Viale platani SS1 Pisa-San Giuliano Terme) and the creation of an ornamental park starting from a holm oak wood (Storico Giardino Villa Rospigliosi, Lamporecchio 2010). Stefano Mengoli is also the author of numerous publications on urban and architectural greenery and edited, for the publishing house Il Sole 24 ORE Business Media Srl, the book FARE VERDE URBANO, a volume on green urbanism in Italy.

Sonia Santella is a garden designer, blogger and freelance journalist. She holds a Bachelor of arts degree from Stockholm University and is currently a member of a Scandinavian landscape research network. She completed her training at theQuasar Design University Institute in Rome, specialising in the design of public and private green spaces. He has been writing specialised articles in the field of landscape architecture for about ten years and cultivates a passion for garden photography by collaborating with Italian and Swedish magazines. In 2009, he published his first book, entitled Gardens of Sweden. Green passion and culture from the 19th century to the present day and in 2012 Royal Gardens of Sweden. An enchanted journey through art and nature.
