TEACHERS

Roberta Cotimbo began her tailoring career in 1989 at the EMY fashion school in Taranto. In 1993 she graduated with top marks. On the suggestion of a famous tailor from Martina Franca, Roberta moved to Milan to continue her studies at the Carlo Secoli Institute and to specialise in industrial modelling. Having also finished her second cycle of studies, Roberta began working for several tailors in Milan, as well as working as a machinist seamstress for the Dolce & Gabbana fashion house.

At the age of 26 she started her own business, making made-to-measure garments, and in 1998 Roberta was called to what was to be her first teaching assignment: a pattern-making and tailoring course at ENAIP in Albenga. Soon after, Roberta was hired by the Burgo Fashion Institute, the school where she still teaches today. At the same time as her studies, in 2005 Roberta opened the RC MODA tailoring shop, beginning a fruitful collaboration with prestigious wedding dress brands such as Carlo Pignatelli and Antonio Riva.

In 2009, he joined the National Academy of Tailors in Rome and the Union of Craftsmen in Milan, and twice a year he shows his clothes at events organised by these associations in Rome and Milan respectively

In 2009, Roberta's creations paraded first in Warsaw, then in Kiev and finally in Salzburg.

In 2017, a Japanese school asked her to teach the construction of bridal gowns, and Roberta began a long-lasting collaboration, which did not stop even during the pandemic thanks to online lessons. In 2019, a Russian university also contacted her to take a master's degree in women's and men's outerwear, a master's degree that Roberta also taught remotely the following year.

On 25 April 2019, the Facebook group 'Tailoring Pearls' was created, which now has more than 20,000 members.

Fashion designer and product manager, expert in yarns, fabrics and leathers. Roman by birth, she has lived and worked in Milan as a fashion designer since 1985.
Long and varied creative collaborations with important Italian luxury fashion brands such as Krizia and Mila Schön have allowed her to work for many years both in the design of the first and second womenswear/ menswear lines and in leather goods and footwear. Today she is the owner in Milan of a design consultancy BB studio for womenswear, knitwear, beachwear, footwear, leather goods and fashion trend research. Always fascinated by the world of underwear and beachwear, in 2007 she started her own underwear/loungewear/beachwear line. Since 2008 she has also started collaborating with important Italian and foreign fashion academies as a lecturer in womenswear design, accessories, beachwear, merchandising, fashion history and fashion software in post-diploma and master's courses also in English.
