Shaving brush, razor and soap: these are the defining elements of an everyday gesture that is of great importance to many men.
The Artist Brush Project Essentia Brushes (official website here essentiabrushes.co.uk) builds on the creativity of Roberto Bardi e Marco Testiniwho recounts this adventure as follows:
"The idea for this project came about a year ago, talking to two old friends who were getting into traditional shaving. They knew I had manual skills developed during my years at the academy, and it occurred to us to remove the dust from a lathe that had remained unused for over 15 years. Driven by the desire to take up woodworking again, I decided to comply with my friends' requests. Returning to the workshop and smelling the wood also helped me to take a break from my work as a graphic designer, which mostly takes place in front of the computer. And so this project was born, in which the art of woodturning and traditional shaving go hand in hand. Our first realisation, a brush with olive wood handle and pure bristle tuftis currently owned by a barber shop in the province of Lecce'.

Handmade Essentia Shaving Brushes
The project takes its name from the Latin word Essentiaessence, and has been certified with various quality certificates, proving the quality of the materials used, as well as the care taken in the workmanship of the handles. The pure bristle tufts, as well as the synthetic ones, in horse, silvertip yew and manchurian, are produced exclusively by a certified Italian company.
The icing on the cake of this collection is the packaging of the products, which emphasises the beauty born of simplicity: a leather case wraps each brush of the Standard seriesand transformed into a convenient travel brush holder. As of 2017, the brushes of the Deluxe series (realised in water resin with olive tree encased) are contained in an elegant wooden case. The Deluxe series was created to celebrate the first year of work and the olive essence of the handle is metaphorically encased in a casing of water - the source of life - simulated by a very special type of resin with crystalline transparency.
