Specialization in Green Urbanism
Public green plays an important role for urban spaces, not only of a purely decorative character. Green spaces, in fact, are part of the urban landscape, promoting harmony and balance in the relationship between human and environment, promoting the psycho-physical well-being of citizens and representing important spaces for socialization and leisure. In addition to the aesthetic and architectural, ecological-environmental, recreational and cultural function, urban greenery also plays a health function, without forgetting the protective function for the areas of the city that appear to be degraded or sensitive.
Urban green is no longer a luxury and expensive asset for the city, but a strategic economic and environmental resource to reduce financial costs and increase urban well-being.
The city must be modern and smart. We can therefore no longer do without the plan of the green and the communal landscape, with which to create a policy of environmental enhancement and landscape of the open urban territory.
The latest regulations for the development of urban green spaces have introduced measures to ensure that urban development is in line with the key principles of the Kyoto Protocol, with a view to sustainability and respect for the natural heritage. Therefore, the designer of urban green spaces must have specific skills not only related to the design of the green, but also normative, architectural, botanical and environmental.
The course in Green urbanism of Italian Design Institute aims to provide participants with all the skills required by the professional figure with a full immersion course, enriched by practical exercises on the planning, design, management, maintenance, selection and production of plant material, always respecting the landscape heritage and the ecological and economic balance of the communal territories.
