Yacht Design: trends, curiosities and career outlets

Index

In Italy, thanks to the territorial conformation with kilometres and kilometres of coastline, there are many tourists, both Italian and foreign, who choose to spend periods of BOAT HOLIDAY. Whether sailing, motorised, minimal or luxurious, these boats require extreme care in their construction. Yacht Design in our country is becoming increasingly important.
Luxury, interior refinement, and aesthetics combine to create true floating houses with every comfort.
Let's discover together the world of Yacht Design with trends, curiosities and career outlets.

What is Yacht Design

First of all, we must ask ourselves what is the Yacht Design. It is an area very much akin to theinterior design. The main difference lies in the movement; a boat, unlike a house, is designed to ply the seas and needs structures and furnishings that guarantee a high level of security and that they are as stable as possible.
If spaces are small, then all that remains is to play with lighting technologywhich will help add depth and elegance to any room. Also the technology occupies a fundamental place in the luxury boat design which must respect high standards and meet the needs of wealthy customers.

Who is the Yacht Designer

Each boat is the result of extremely complex work, in which multiple factors and competences must intervene.
Le boats are in most cases custom-made, using very different construction methods, materials and equipment.

Lo yacht designer is the one whose task it is to realise aesthetically impeccable designsbut also practical e functional. Embarking on this profession also requires special attention to the security passengers; the boat must be safe even in the most critical weather conditions.

The relationship between yacht designer and construction site is essential; it is a game of balances which involves constant confrontation. The figure must therefore have the ability to deal competently and authoritatively with all stakeholders in the boatyard.
Le transversal competences e the experience are the trump cards of a yacht designer together with the right balance of efficiency, practicality, beauty, elegance and comfort.

Interior design trends

Just as for the interior decoration of homes, also for the boat interior design there are trends seasons to be respected.
Given the ever-increasing demand for custom-built boats (in times of pandemic, a yacht holiday is a security) the manufacturers, in extreme competition, integrate more and more new elements into their proposals, ranging from technologically advanced equipment solutions to the possibility of customising every furnishing detail.
Industry trends focus on innovative materials, symbols and colours representing the owner of the vessel.
In particular:

  • materials innovative and green
  • customisation of objects on board
  • systems demountable furniture according to needs and number of guests
  • neutral colours, reminiscent of wood tones or the warm tones of sunset, forgetting the decidedly outdated white and blue classics
  • good safety rule is to insert sound-absorbing and fireproof panels
  • floors in parquet or carpet
  • walls preferably in wood or alternatively marble.
