One of its inventors is Gianmarco Cammiwho developed it with his collaborators, led by Professor Gabriele Fava of Department of Science and Engineering of Matter, Environment and Urban Planning. The Breath è a fabric that has bactericidal, anti-mould and anti-odour properties and is enriched with a layer that, thanks to the presence of activated carbon and nanomolecules, is able to separate, retain and break down the micro-polluting particles in the air. With a considerable reduction in the presence of nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and sulphur oxides.
The first installations of the product were made for the Meazza Stadium in Milan and other indoor tests were held in the Vittorino da Feltre school complex in Piacenza, in a windowless classroom, with excellent results.
The project had already on several occasions received praise from the Professor Umberto Veronesi, who had chosen to deploy the technology within the European Institute of Oncology in Milan.
The oncologist's thinking started from the fact that of the millions of Italians who develop cancer today, at least 70 per cent could be saved through prevention, and the use of a building fibre such as The Breath could help improve living conditions and cancer prevention.
