The study area is located in Lazio in the municipality of Pontecorvo, in the province of Frosinone. The municipal territory is crossed by the Liri river.
The municipal territory is mainly characterised by natural and agricultural landscape. The hamlet of Sant'Oliva is an area of great natural interest: there is a large forest that has been called 'The Forest' since the Middle Ages. Here there are karstic caves and several watercourses.
The Pontecorvo pepper is the undisputed protagonist of the agricultural sector and is a typical variety of this area.
