The creation of a new model of car requires a study of the relationship between mobility and territory, which combines the fundamental stylistic aspects with the use of the latest propulsion and engineering technologies in the motors sector, ensuring high standards of energy saving and a reduction in emissions.
Designing, producing, promoting and marketing an automotive design product requires specific skills, desiners have to be able to dialogue with different actors and to move beyond of the classic market logic, have technological and productive skills and basic project management skills.
The urban and road context is constantly evolving, as has become evident with the emergence of charging stations for electric or hybrid vehicles, and the scenario in which the car designer (or automotive designer) operates is transforming at the same pace. Not to mention the emergence of driverless vehicles such as the Google Car, which makes it necessary to radically rethink the organisation of a car's interior spaces.

The IDI Master in Car Design is a full-immersion course that will allow you to learn advanced automotive design techniques, learning to manage an automotive design project in all its phases, from the concept to the first drafts, up to 3D modeling.

The Car Designer is a professional specialized in car design, in the design of bodywork, accessories, lights, interior accessories and car refinishing elements. Job opportunities

Completed the training as a car designer the master's students will be able to find employment in technical studios and design centers of automotive manufacturers, or start their own professional car & automotive design studio. The training received will allow to plan all project phases, from the acquisition and management of statistical data, to graphic and 3D design and the phase of internal communication and external promotion.
The students that will be distinguished for the greater motivation and talent could find employment in important national and international companies that carry out projects for the main brands in the automotive sector.
Moreover, in recent years new paths have been created for professionals interested in working with alternative technologies for highly innovative and ecological transport, which lead to a strong reduction in the environmental impact.

Phases of the route

Phase 1: Preparatory lessons: texts + online platform

Phase 2:

  • 120 hours of theoretical lectures and practical exercises from 15 June to 31 July 2023
  • 24 hours online (8 lessons of three hours each)
  • 96 hours of Full Immersion in the classroom spread over 8 hours a day from 26 June to 8 July 2023, partly at the National Automobile Museum in Turin;

Facilitations

Possibility of financing the enrolment fee Video CV editing and updating for dissemination to companies in the sector at the end of the training course in the candidate's region of preference.

It is possible and advisable to send a portfolio of previous works. The examining commission, considering these elements, will communicate the result of the selection and the admission to the Course.

A lecturer at La Sapienza faculty in Rome on the Industrial Design degree course, Marco Amadio has long been involved in mould-making processes in thermosetting materials. A consultant and designer for industries in the Transportation Design sector, he deals with the creation of 3D models and optimisation processes in the production of moulds for series production. He has received several awards in the field of Naval Design, with the Verve 36 project, realised for the Azimut Benetti group, and the Boat of the Year Award 2010. Marco Amadio is a materials expert and ARTC MCNEEL.

After completing his studies in 'Bodywork Architecture', Nicolò Azzara began his career at Fioravanti Srla collaboration that was to continue for the next twenty years, leading him to currently hold the position of Senior Designer in the company. An in-depth knowledge of automotive design and interior and exterior design allows Nicolò Azzara to follow the creation of body shape plans from start to finish, as well as concept sketches and photoshop renderings. He has worked directly on the design of extraordinary concept cars, such as F100R, Baic Motors S900; e C90-K finally taking care of the exterior design of the Ferrari 575 Superamerica.
