IDI at Bright Festival: an opportunity between innovation and technology

 The Bright Festival embodies a new festival concept centred on theinnovation and on the use of technologies in the service of culture.

For this Italian Design Institute decided to take part in the event that brings together enthusiasts, students and professionals even if only digitally.

The last edition brought together enthusiasts from all over the country in a new context dedicated to the digital creativity and its applications in the field professional and artistic.

In particular, one of our Course in Lighting Design, Silvio De Ponte Contiwas the protagonist of the lecture on the role and emotional value of light within architectural space.

The architect and scenographer, who has worked for major companies and directors, highlights in a timely analysis the peculiarities and innovations linked to the Lighting Design, in a lecture rich in content and new professional insights for practitioners.

What is the Bright Festival?

The Bright Festival began as Florentine cultural event that resonates at the level of national and international. Central themes of the exhibition, which over the years has increasingly established itself as a point of reference for the cultural and digital world, are the technology, art in all its forms, music and digitalindeed.

The event drew so much attention to itself that it prompted the organisers Claudio Caciolli, Teresa Balestrieri, Gianpaolo Dei and Luciano Dagostini to think, not only of entertainment activities, but also of training via workshops, lectures, demos and talks.

The numerous collaborations with universities, companies, design studios and internationally renowned artistsinvolve a growing number of participants every year who are interested in discovering the possible scenarios artistic, musical and lighting design.

Also important is the collaboration with Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the promotion ofItalian digital art in the world and the international project 'Bright Festival Connect' involving Germany and Russia.

The soul of the Bright Festival is reflected on three parallel projectseach with its own identity: BRIGHT _EDU, BRIGHT _ART and BRIGHT _MUSIC.

Let's see them together:

1. BRIGHT _EDU

Dedicated to training, new trends in the field of visual design, music, art, new media and entertainment technologythe Bright Edu organises workshops, lectures, demos and talks held by Italian and international lecturers and professionals.

2. BRIGHT _ART

It deals with the promotion of digital creativity through the use of installations, experiences, A/V performances and multimedia shows. Each work/activity is realised by carefully selecting studios and professionals in the sectors visual, lighting & interaction design.

3. BRIGHT _MUSIC

This is the section dedicated to musicin particular to that electronics. Organising performances, live shows and DJ sets, the Bright Music offers the opportunity for the stars of the music scene to perform alongside new professionals from the world of entertainment such as: 3D designers, stage, floor & lighting designers.

The edition Online of Bright Festival 

The world of art and culture was particularly affected by the events caused by the pandemic. To the forced stop of the sector, the Bright Festival decided to react by organising the first online editionheld on the platform Bright Edudedicated to the professions of the future.

Three days of lectures, webinars, talks and meetings involving representatives of digital creative realities. These included the intervention by our Course Lecturer in Lighting Design, Silvio De Ponte Conti, who held a lecture on 'Light as matter of ephemeral space'.

Silvio De Ponte Conti

Founder of De Ponte Studio Architects, Silvio De Ponte Conti graduates in Architecture at the University of Florence. His first passion is the theatre and, in fact, he will work as a set designer, collaborating with prestigious international companies and names such as Giorgio Strehler and Bob Wilson. It is here that his dazzling encounter with the Lightalso used as the protagonist of his interior architecture projects. His experience allows him to unexpected contaminations between genres and languages, of experiment with wisdom and innovation. Fundamental is the relationship between Light and Matter which helps to delineate the new characteristics of a space, be it living space or public space such as a stage.
