Marco Piva, graduated at the Milan Polytechnic, was a founding member of Studiodada Associati, one of the most famous design studios of the Radical Design period. He works, early on, in Italy and abroad for architecture, interior and industrial design projects, receiving numerous awards and recognitions. From 1987 to 1990 he was a member of the Association for Industrial Design. In 1987 he founded IDA, International Design Agency, Italian interface for a World Design Network system. In 1990 he opened his Studio which still operates in the field of architecture and design. From 1988 to 1991 he was Italian commissioner at the European Community for the Sprint Project for innovation and technology transfer.

With German, French and English designers, sociologists and marketing experts he founds EDEA (European Design Expert Association), a strategic consultancy firm for Design. From 1997 to 2002 he coordinated Hot Group (Hotel Technologies Group), the first interdisciplinary group of companies specialized in technologies for the Hotel and the Contract. In 2001, his experience in strategic consulting in the field of design and hotellerie allowed him to take care of the consultancy for the Contract sector of Federlegno Arredo.

Since 1999 he has taught in prestigious italian and international universities, coordinated  the post-graduate Master's degree at the Polytechnic of Milan, the Polytechnic School of Design and the European Institute of Design in Milan.

In  2002  2002 he founded "Atelier Design", the atelier of his Studio, a research and development center for industrial design. From 2007 to 2009 he is the scientific curator of Italian Contract Design Industry, a project by Federlegno Arredo. Since 2010 he has actively participated in the academic offers of the prestigious De Tao Masters Academy in Beijing and Tongji University in Shanghai, where he held several lectures. Since 2016 he is professor of the Master in Interior Design of the Polytechnic of Milan.
