Bartholomew Romito

He was born in Taranto on 11 May 73. From an early age, he learnt the rudiments of the art of tailoring from his mother Tonia. After graduating from high school in 1992, he attended professional courses in Patternmaking and Women's Tailoring at a training centre in Martina Franca (TA), a well-known clothing hub in Puglia. She then began working at a haute couture bridal atelier in Taranto, as a patternmaker. In the Taranto ateliers, she learned the sartorial art of making bodices and the art of lace encrusting. During this period he developed knowledge of volumes for haute couture skirts. In 1999, he moved to Milan and began to collaborate with Milan tailors as a patternmaker for lightweight and made-to-measure outerwear.

The turning point came with his employment at Armani, first as RTW patternmaker and later as haute couture patternmaker (Privé). At Armani, he acquires a broad professionalism on all types of luxury garments, with a focus on the harmony of volume and shape of bustier and strapless garments, as well as advanced tailoring techniques.

After a stint at Gucci where he worked on celebrity garments, he was hired at Alberta Ferretti as head of women's RTW patternmaking. From 2016 to the present day, he works as a light and outerwear patternmaker at Dolce and Gabbana Haute Couture. He thus deepened his knowledge of the art of patternmaking and fine tailoring. Alongside his professional activity, he obtained a degree in philosophy and religious sciences and a master's degree in psychology of work and organisations.
