Do you want to become an interior designer?
With the One Year Course Practical Master in Interior Design organized by IDI in collaboration with the Studio Marco Piva you can learn advanced design techniques, learning to manage an interior design project in all its phases, from concept, to CAD design and to the communication and marketing of the final product. The weekend formula of the course also allows students and workers to take part easily, for a training course over a whole year.

Practical Master in Interior Design

The Practical Master in Interior Design aims to train professionals able to follow the entire design process and takes the form of a workshop where participants will address the interior design field: from public to private spaces , from offices to commercial spaces.
Giving shape to contemporary spaces requires competence and taste and for this reason the interior design it must respond not only to the needs of comfort and individual expression, but also to aggregation and efficiency, identity creation and communication impact.
During the realization of the Project Work, the student will have the opportunity to put into practice the skills acquired during the classroom phase, consolidating the acquired knowledge. He will develop an interior design project starting from the concept and the technical and material choices, going through the study of colors, lights, volumes and surfaces, thus having a complete perception of the changes taking place on the market and learning to read the signs that anticipate new trends.
The spaces that fall within the scope ofinterior designin addition to the more traditional home and office spaces, they also include commercial spaces, from shops to showrooms, to trade fair stands.
The path of the Practical Master will be divided into classroom design activities with a plus: the ability to interface, as well as with IDI teachers also with professionals of the Studio Marco Piva, where Saturday lessons will take place.

Job opportunities

The knowledge acquired during the Practical Master in Interior Design they will allow the student to practice successfully with companies in the furniture sector, or in professional design and architecture offices; he can become an industrial designer, product designer or interior designer in studios and furniture stores. Alternatively, he can choose to work as a freelancer by creating his own projects on specific customer request.

Programme Stages

  • Preliminary lessons: texts + online platform
  • Classroom phase: 150 hours of lessons in the weekend formula from September to December
  • Project work: realization of a project (3 months)
  • Stage of internship: 3 months at partner companies in the region of interest of the participant
  • Max. Participants: 18

In the selection of candidates will be considered the school and work CV, in addition to the motivational letter produced; it is possible to support the candidacy with a portfolio of previous works. Considering these elements, the examining board will communicate the result of the selection and admission to the Course / Master, by submitting the registration form.

  • Marco Piva
    Marco Piva Architect and Interior Designer

    Marco Piva, a graduate of the Milan Polytechnic, was a founding member of Studiodada Associati, one of the most famous design studios of the Radical Design period. From the beginning he works in Italy and abroad for architectural, interior and industrial design projects, receiving numerous awards and recognitions. From 1987 to 1990 is a member of the Board of Presidency of ADI, Association for Industrial Design. In 1987 he founded IDA, International Design Agency, an Italian interface for a World Design Network system. In the 1990 opens the Studio that still bears his name. From 1988 to 1991 he is Italian Commissioner at the European Community for the Sprint Project for innovation and technology transfer.

    With designers, sociologists and marketing experts from Germany, France and the UK he founded EDEA (European Design Expert Association), a strategic consulting firm for Design. From 1997 to 2002 it coordinates Hot Group (Hotel Technologies Group), the first interdisciplinary group of companies specialized in Hotel and Contract technologies. In the 2001, his experience in strategic consulting in the field of design and hotel industry culminates in consulting for the Contract sector of Federlegno Arredo.

    Since 1999 this remarkable activity has been combined also with teaching, in prestigious universities both in Italy and abroad, as well as in: coordination of post-graduate courses at the Milan Polytechnic, the Polytechnic School of Design and the European Institute of Design in Milan.

    In 2002 constitutes "Atelier Design", atelier of the Studio, research and development center for industrial design. From 2007 to 2009 he is scientific curator of Italian Contract Design Industry, a project by Federlegno Arredo. Since 2010 actively participates in the academic offerings of the prestigious De Tao Masters Academy universities in Beijing and the Tongji University in Shanghai, where he held several lectures. From 2016 he is a lecturer in the first level University Master in Interior Design at the Milan Polytechnic.

  • Armando Bruno
    Armando Bruno Interior and Product Designer

    Armando Bruno is a partner and CEO of Studio Marco Piva. Among the various activities of architect, he teaches at the Polytechnic of Milan, SPD Polytechnic School of Design, Tongji University_Shanghai, Shenzhen University_Shenzhen, Tsinghua University_Shenzhen, Barreira A + D_Valencia and collaborates with SDA Bocconi and other international universities.
    He has been a member of several juries, is part of the coordination committee of the Department of ADI Designers and of the thematic committee of the candidates ADI Design Index, coordinates the Young & Design award from the 2015.
    He has collaborated with some fashion brands such as Aspesi, Bvlgari, Jil Sander, Maison Martin Margiela, Marni and MSGM. He was founder and artistic curator of the Spaziootto gallery in Milan. He is the founder and director of the magazine BrUTO.

  • Flavio Mirabella
    Flavio Mirabella Interior Designer

    Flavio Mirabella is an Interior Designer who collaborates with the Marco Piva Studio from the 2014. Graduated in Design at Rome University of Fine Arts, he develops projects for private residences, hotels, business centers and shorooms in Italy and abroad.
    He has collaborated on several projects such as the WantGo Shopping Center (Xian, China), The Pantheon Iconic Rome Hotel (Rome, Italy), the Leonardo Helicopters showroom (Malpensa, Italy), a prestigious private house on different levels in Mumbai (India) ), the VIP lounge Casa Alitalia (Fiumicino Airport - Rome, Italy), the Vimar showroom (Marostica, Italy), the 5 star hotel Forum El Djazair (Algiers, Algeria).

  • Marco Colletti
    Marco Colletti Engineer and Interior Designer

    Marco Colletti is an engineer who works with the Marco Piva Studio from 2015. Graduated in Building Engineering and Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Palermo, he continues with a Master in Interior Design at the Milan Polytechnic.
    He designed houses, hotels and business centers in Italy and abroad. His most revealing projects include private villas from Beverly Hills in Shanghai, but also: Crystal Tower (Yancheng, China), Dianshan Lake Resort (Shanghai, China), Marina Forum El Djazair (Algiers, Algeria), the exhibition Designing the Complexity ( Exhibition on the occasion of the Venice Biennale), and the Case del Principe in Milan.
