The activities of the specialisation course are of a technical nature and deal with the main working themes of a figure who has the task of managing a historical garden open exclusively to a few guests or open to the public.

The main thematic areas developed are as follows:

  • improved maintenance and creative lines for landscape solutions
  • technical design for historic parks and gardens
  • graphical development of solutions
  • management plan
  • communication plan

Italy is known throughout the world for its immense heritage of historic parks and gardens, as well as villas of undisputed cultural interest. Many of these places of cultural interest are in need of important and wise interventions so that they can once again be enjoyed or better enjoyed by the community as well as preserve or regain their environmental value.

Precisely for this reason, there is an increasing focus on the restoration of historic parks and gardens, which sees the outlining of conspicuous financial interventions such as, among the latest - Public Notice for the submission of Proposals for the restoration and enhancement of historic parks and gardens to be funded under the PNRR, Mission 1 - Digitalisation, Innovation, Competitiveness and Culture, Component 3 - Culture 4.0 (M1C3), Measure 2 'Regeneration of small cultural sites, cultural, religious and rural heritage', Investment 2.3: 'Programmes to enhance the identity of places: historic parks and gardens' funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU.

The recovery/promotion intervention requires the synergetic collaboration of different professional figures who need to be coordinated by a curator.
