Training course

Through this course of study, students will be able to approach design in the field of textile design, starting with an analysis of trends and the contemporary market in fashion.

We offer a full immersion course where students, supported by highly qualified teachers, will learn how to use the most widely used graphics software, Photoshop and Illustrator, in an advanced and professional manner. During the lessons, fundamental theoretical and technical notions will be provided, in order to approach the design and production process of fabric design.

Part of the classroom phase will take place inside the textile printing factory Achille Pintowhere students will have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the reality that lies within. They will learn detailed knowledge, about the operation of the machines, the types of materials suitable for printing, techniques and production methods. The course will conclude with a workshop phase, in which students will be able to explore and experiment with traditional printing techniques.

The trainees will put the acquired skills into practice in the realisation of a project workfocused on the consolidation of acquired notions. At the end of the experience, the students will be able to design personal and original fabric design ideas.

The aim of the Italian Design Institute's course in textile design: graphics and printing on textiles is to train professionals in the field of textiles, design and printing.

It is a professional figure who is of fundamental support to the creative direction in designing the collections.

What you will learn

 The candidate will broaden his knowledge in the textile field and learn to use in an advanced professional and autonomous way the most widely used software from leading companies in the sector, Photoshop and illustrator in order to design personal and original textile design interventions.

  •  Analysis of industry style trends
  • Analysis of prints with reference to designers and iconographic prints
  •  Development of ideas, through the collection of images and materials
  • Creating mood boards and colour charts
  • Analysis of design types (floral, camouflage, animalier etc.)
  • Weaving and printing processes
  • Classification of printing types ( Sublimation printing, Screen printing, Printing
    digital etc.)
  • Analysis of pattern assembly types, all-over/piazzato/foulard/degradé
  • Colour and its variants
  • Digitising with graphics software (Illustator and photoshop)

    TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY

  • Textiles: fibres, yarns and the spinning cycle
  • Raw materials: natural fibres, animal fibres, chemical fibres (artificial and synthetic)
  • Textile surfaces: woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, non-woven fabrics
  • Basic weaves Canvas, twill, satin

Job opportunities

Supply chain producers need professionals, who are able to conceptualise, design, manage and dialogue with the figures involved in the production of clothing collections.  At the end of the course, trainees will be able to enter the fashion world as Fashion and textile designers, fashion consultants and fashion graphic designers. They can work as freelancers or within style offices.

Phases of the course

  • Propaedeutics: Books + online platform
  • Classroom phase: 64 hours of face-to-face lectures at the company Achille Pinto
  • Project work: 3 months to develop a project following the outline provided by the company Achille Pinto. The projects will be viewed by the style office and if one of them should appear interesting to the fashion coordinator, it will be put into production and proposed to leading companies in the sector.
    Italian Design Institute offers students the opportunity to print a 90X90 scarf, using the design created in the project work phase. 
  • Dissemination of the professional profile nationwide

Facilitations

Possibility of financing the enrolment fee Video CV editing and updating for dissemination to companies in the sector at the end of the training course in the candidate's region of preference.
