From the mid-1500s, Spanish rule implemented a defensive strategy that involved the construction of innumerable watchtowers in visual connection with each other. The sites were soon identified with the names of the towers, which are still retained today.
Most have a square plan, two storeys, a wooden staircase later replaced with a stone access, embrasures and machicolations.
BHO! (Bio House Hospitality) is the housing unit that through the symbolic recovery of watchtowers enhances the local identity to become a new expression of it.
