Orsos Island: Interior yacht design to the nth degree

Index

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]È il sogno segreto di ogni interior yacht designer: una barca che naviga poco, sta molto ancorata in qualche amena baietta, ha tre ponti, sei cabine doppie e more than 1,000 square metres of total area to be furnished. A dream that has become reality thanks to an Austrian company led by a volcanic businessman of Hungarian origin. The basic idea is to bring comfort, luxury, the pleasure of spending leisure time in good company on a yacht, but without the hassle of navigation, manoeuvring, powerful engines and dynamic problems.

The Orsos island-boat is 37 metres long and 21 metres wide, and has three levels. A sun deck (upper deck, also known as the flying bridge, only this one doesn't fly) with sofas, extra luxurious sun loungers, barbecue, bar counter, a nice Jacuzzi and plenty of sunbathing area. So much so that 15 people can fit comfortably. An intermediate bridge with a large saloon, a kitchen, another bar and six cabins of 20 square metres each, with private bathrooms. A lower bridge dedicated exclusively to a large entertainment room, with mega-screen, home theatre, karaoke system and professional DJ stereo for dance evenings.

The technical features of Orsos Island

160 square metres of solar panels mounted on the upper deck. Plus a wind generator.

Two small-capacity diesel engines, the bare minimum necessary to ensure travel at a speed of 3-4 knots at most, but above all to function as generators when on-board electricity consumption starts to rise and the panels can no longer recharge the batteries.

Desalinator of the latest generation, which together with the 12,000 litres of drinking water tanks guarantees considerable autonomy.

Aluminium hull and superstructures in aluminium and fibreglass.

The cost of the yacht-island is undemocratic: $6.5 million, which considering the size, hull material, generous superstructures, ultra-refined furnishings, lots of luxury options and all those square metres of solar panels is not even that much.

In short a new generation means of transport combining the best of life on land and the excitement of life at sea. Designed to enjoy leisure time in peace and relaxation, with plenty of friends on board and lots of fun.

Until the first gust of wind enters the roadstead, at night, with 20 knots straight ahead, the short, steep waves making the hull pitch violently, dropping everything that wasn't stuck, the anchor starting to plough and the beach getting closer and closer to the stern, the women on board screaming, etc. etc.
