The new Austrian shipyard Kormaran presents itself with a memorable calling card: the K-700 model, a powerboat that concentrates so many innovations in 7 metres that it creates a brand new class: variable geometry boats.
The Kormaran K-700 is a monohull, it is a catamaran, it is a trimaran and it is also a hydrofoil: one boat for four completely different ways of going to sea. The side skids are moved by hydraulic arms controlled by a computer, which even on the move can vary the hydrodynamic configuration of the hull. But it is not only when sailing that the K-700 impresses: once at anchor, teak surfaces protrude from the front portion of the hull to form a large sun pad.
For those who love speed the Hydrofoils configuration (with completely closed skates) is certainly the most fun, since the hydrodynamic resistance drops of the 80% and the K-700 reaches a speed of almost 40 knots, literally flying over the waves. The power generated by the three jet drives reaches 500 hp, with an average range of 110 nautical miles. Performance made possible by a light displacement hull as a direct consequence of the materials used by the yard. The central structure is made entirely of carbon fibreas are the side skids, while the hydraulic cylinders are made of titanium and steel.
A vessel that moves forward the canons of yacht designby applying the latest technologies in materials, propulsion and aerodynamic appendages to a certainly luxury product. A gem worth around one million euros that we are sure will soon be admired live in the havens of international yachting.
