The Automobile Museum was founded in 1932 from the idea and work of Roberto Biscaretti di Ruffia and Cesare Goria Gatti, one of the founders of Fiat and the Automobile Club of Turin. It is one of the oldest automobile museums in the world. Currently home to almost 200 original carsfrom the mid-19th century to the present day, of more than 80 different makes, from Italy, France, Great Britain, Germany, the USA, the Netherlands, Spain and Poland.
In 2002, in the wake of new architectural sensibilities applied to museum facilitiesthe need was felt to adapt the Mauto to the times. The renovation was completed in 2011 and gave the museum an image of great impact, so much so that it earned a place in the ranking of the world's top 50 museums by the British newspaper The Times, a ranking that also considers its educational approach and scientific value.
As if all this were not enough Mauto also boasts a section dedicated specifically to Car Designrecently refurbished with installations of great interest to those who want to learn more about car design and its historical evolution. In this incredibly stimulating context our students are currently addressing topics such as ergonomics, materials technology, industrial design theory and technique, design conception, marketing and project management, aerodynamics, 3D modelling software.
