A signal of strong recovery: the inauguration of a gallery, which took place last 25 May in Milan, which brings together the most famous pieces of furniture from design the winners of the prestigious Compasso d'Oro.
Ѐ the Design Museum Compasso d'oro or ADI which hosts a permanent best pieces of Italian design. The inauguration took place in the presence of the mayor of the city of Milan Beppe Sala and the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini.
The entire historical prize collection Compasso d'Oro, an award created in 1954 from an idea by Gio Ponti to enhance the quality of design made in Italyhas found its natural home in the newly established museum.
The management of the facility is the responsibility of the ADI Foundation Compasso d'Oro Collectionestablished back in 2001 by ADI - Association for Industrial Design.
This is a national cultural heritage recognised by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage as "of exceptional artistic and historical interest".
In addition to the Permanent Collection museum spaces will host in-depth temporary exhibitions, meetings and cultural events of various kinds.
Design Museum Compasso d'Oro was born from the recovery of a historical place of 1930swhich was used as a depot for horse-drawn trams, but also as a power plant. With an area of over 5,000 square metres, the museum is designed to dignify theindustrial archaeologyhallmark of the building.
Its large spaces will be used for permanent and non-permanent exhibitions, the services such as café bookshops and event venues. The location of the gallery is strategic, just as the presence in a redeveloped area, the "Milanese Chinatownwhich has become a pedestrian zone. Also nearby is the cultural centre, with the Steam Factorythe space of the Municipality of Milan managed by the youth area and Feltrinelli Foundation.
